Changsha Fangyuanhui Food Street
Project Background:
Changsha Fangyuanhui, a large-scale regional commercial complex integrating dining and leisure, family-oriented retail, children’s entertainment, trendy fashion, and experiential leisure, opened in its entirety in 2011. Between 2016 and 2022, the mall underwent a series of capital-intensive renovations totaling nearly 200 million yuan, comprehensively optimizing the shopping center’s overall layout and solidifying its position as the top mall in northern Changsha thanks to its first-mover advantage.
Project Objectives:
Centered around a shipping container market and incorporating “Guochao” (Chinese-inspired trend) elements, the project aims to create Changsha’s first “scenic at every turn” Guochao food and snack street, brimming with the vibrant atmosphere of a night market. As Changsha’s only outdoor street with an indoor environment, it seeks to attract foot traffic and drive consumer spending.
Operational Results:
The Changsha Fangyuanhui Specialty Food District uses shipping containers and “Guochao” themed displays for visual presentation and design, incorporating local specialty snacks, “internet-famous” restaurants, and unique cultural and creative products to create a commercial hub centered on distinctive neighborhoods and food culture. At the same time, through the synergy between leisure and commerce, the district has created a functional space with new social attributes. It not only offers nearby residents the convenience of shopping and dining but also serves as an atmospheric leisure destination and Instagrammable spot.
